Northshore Manufacturing Inc. was founded in 1989 and is located in Two Harbors, MN. The company manufactures custom knuckle boom material handlers for use in the waste (garbage, scrap, debris) reduction and recylcing industries. Northshore shifted its marketing focus shortly after it was founded from timber harvesting and logging to this new growing market.

Northshore designs manufactures and sells custom articles of equipment to suit the customers' needs and application and works with consulting engineering firms, other original equipment manufacturers, and end users directly. Because of this sales engineering marketing approach, Northshore does not have direct competition from "ready to use" equipment dealers.

At the current time Northshore is the exclusive supplier of handlers for 3 large scale mobile waste shredding, grinding and baling O.E.M.'s. Custom material handlers designed and manufactured by Northshore are also currently in operation at waste transfer stations in all parts of the U.S.

Northshore also performs custom fabrication work for other O.E.M. 's, whereby the parts and weldments are made to the customers design and specifications.

In January of 2000, an ESOP plan was formed between Northshore Manufacturing, Inc. and its employees, providing employee ownership equal to their percentage of stock ownership. Currently (2004) the employees own 30% with the remaining 70% still with the original owners/stockholders.

Sales are currently very strong in grapple sales, however, Northshore's focus remains on the waste/scrap industries to provide individually engineered stationary electric cranes for their needs-each patterned to their sites and installed by our factory personnel. The stationary electric cranes allow us to maintain an environmentally friendly atmosphere for each of our customers.
